ideally I'd like as big as possible but large enough to say through saw a 1.2 meter diameter butt which we regularly get, we are building a new shed for it so up to 10-12 meters? I do occasionally have to mill 30 foot so if its just putting some rails comcrete yard in thats fine. buget is flexible but depends on what you'd get, I know I could get a stenner band rack for what I'm willing to spend/ put in but don't want one, we've loaders and telehandlers for loading / unloading I liked the tom sawyer features (I hired one a couple of times) ie accurate, wide blade, run as long as the rails, log stays static just run through etc...

I know of a Terglav 1200. 1200mm capacity, set works, band sharpener, 18 kw motor, full hydraulics (clamps, turners) motorised rise, drive and band guides, ride on seat..... think it was about £10,000. Beast of a bit of kit, pic below

Also know of a couple of other big sawmills like this. A Wravor and a Mebor, both similar spec

something like that would do well, I was looking at the tom sawyer as its uk built so parts wouldn't be so tricky, also the head wheels etc are a known quantity. but as a a fall back provided importing something like this wouldn't cost the earth? sound like theres some decent mills out by you in Croatia?

Hey. Yep there are quite a few big mills dotted about. Timber is big industry out here so these big mills are quite common. You get all sorts, a friend down the road has a wooden framed circular mill with a 1 metre diametre blade, no guarding, direct PTO of the tractor..... makes my stomach turn.

Looked at a Mebor HTZ 1200 the other week, 20,000 euros but absolutely top rate industrial piece of kit, it was huge. Google it, plenty of info online.

Transport is fairly reasonable, prob somewhere around £700 - £900 door to door broken down and on pallets. Croatia is EU so no import problems.

Another pic of the Terglav below:
