Course you can - decent set of helmet mounted radio earmuffs, though why anyone would want to listen to the cricket is beyond me

Is it easy enough to use shears to cut logs to length and stack and separate brash

Cut to length and stack yes, to remove brash not so easy as most shears don't have feed rollers and knives. You can get them but the cost difference is minimal compared to a harvesting head. Shears really come into there own if either feeding straight into a chipper or skidding to a chipper.

Correct. If you need CTL product, it's hand-cut or harvesting head.
