I am looking for a large straight trunk to create a dug out canoe. I have made one with poplar and would now like to try carving one from cedar if I can source a good size trunk for a good price. It needs to be approx 7ft long and 2ft diameter but beggars can't be choosers! Anyone have any ideas on who to contact? I am based in Bristol. Thanks for you help

I have a couple of poplar butts however they are quite a bit bigger than the size you need, don't want anything for them if you want to collect, we are in South Hertfordshire

I have about 8 pop butts to choose from. Most just over 22" wide as they wont fit through my wood miser. Must be 6-8ft long. Very few knots and straight most must be just above the root and taper out to 30" in some cases.
