Most track work is £8-10 an hour in week for basic PTS and £10-12 on weekends.

Yep you are dead right the problem is the more people go and do it for that the more the company's push down the rates because they know people are going to do it ,I done shed loads of this deveg rail work but under the rope access banner and the money is much better, but even in rope access we are seeing a down turn on rates recently .

I don't understand it your still doing a dangerous job how justify lowing the rates

When I was on the track(5 years ago) I a team leader/coss etc.. Climber etc.. & I was on £30k a year with a company truck. Was a good money I used to really like it the only done side was the black thorn!!
