It seems that a ported 346 out cuts a standard 550 , this from a recent post . I was pleased to hear it as I have a spud ported 346 . I did not do the test by the way :001_smile:

That was. Me, and yes marginally faster think the times on four cuts was 5.5seconds for my ported 346 and 7 seconds on four cuts for 550xp same bar and chAin

Josh there is nothing marginal about those cutting times, 1.5 secs is a big difference in my opinion. That 346xp is the boss.

Did you manage to get a vid? I should hve a 346 sorted now. I do fancy the mods but working on track if network rail ever heard about it I'm sure there would be a big fuss nationwide!

Fancy having a go at rebuilding one myself, I remember when on my course the trainer said the 357 was a **** hot saw so if anyone has one that's looking for a new home don't be shy

Good call :thumbup1:

550 on a 13" is about closest I've found to that though

.

The 13" bars are not a good choise on the 50cc saws, as they tend to be rear heavy with them. A 15 or 16" bar is a much better fit! :001_smile:

Also, the Pixel/Narrow Kerf stuff is a bad choise, as there are no chisel chain option, and the existing options don't do the saws justise.

I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree on the 13" bars. :001_smile:

Maybe I'm just weird, but I prefer a short bar, especially for snedding as I feel it handles better.

Yes, they are rear heavy, but to say it's not a good choice is a bit blinkered. A 13" bar turns the 346 into a fantastic snedding saw and the 550 into a screaming loony.

Just one saw in the wood and it will have a 15 on it, but if I'm dropping a big tree then the delimbing will be a 13 every time.
