I have a similar issue with my 2007 200T only difference is that when I tilt the saw at full revs the engine dies!

Hello, this was ultra common on the 200t. Although you changed the diaphragms a couple of years ago, regardless of use you should do it again. Change the Fuel filter and the strainer in the carb too. It's not often you have to replace the carb but it does happen, lastly, the LS speed setting is always 1 turn out. The HS is 3/4 and is set fully. If an old type 2 jet carb then basic setting would be 1 turn each.

Ok! Just got round to having a poke about last night...

I changed;

Fuel filter,

Breather,

Fuel line,

Both diaphragms in carb (from a standard carb kit),

 

Symptoms are EXACTLY the same.

Reset the HS and LS screws to factory, no change.

I'm now thinking it has to be something deeper inside the carb. There is the guy on eBay that services 200t carbs for £28. Is he on here? Shall I bite the bullet and send it to him, or is this something I can attempt?

If it IS a carb issue, it will be the accelerator pump, leaking Welch plug or high speed check valve. The first two faults give poor idle, the last one, poor high speed revs.

 

Don't rule out a split inlet manifold. Holding the machine and stressing the handle from side to side will cause the revs to change significantly.

Had another tinker...

Tried to keep the revs steady, not easy, and manipulate the handle. No noticeable effect.

Tried another, better, but not perfect carb, and it ran better. I might as well do the inlet manifold to cover my arse, then I need to send the carb to someone in the know? Is this a service you offer Spud? Or shall I try the bloke on eBay?

If the manifold is split, it will be noticeable once you have it off and the part is bit expensive at over 20 quid.

 

I can do the carb but it will have to be in 2-3 weeks time.....sorry!
