i should point out that i was glad that it was cut so thick it gave me room to do something useful with it on the lathe. rather than getting one bowl from a bit that's 2 1/2" thick i got a nest of 4 from a bit that was 6" thick

 

as you can see the plank on the mizer needed to be split in two as it had a bit of pith running down the center. once split i can work out the best way to utilise the wood to show the grain...

 

 

i got 12 blanks from the first board that clive gave me and i've already got another 30 from some of what you see in the back of his truck...

Did you get any pics, so I can see what I'm missing out on ?

 

kev I did take some pics,but my computer seems to have gobbled em up somewhere, and the planks are now burried under some lovely new cedar that I planked,,,lol:thumbup:(theory being the cedar will keep the nasty bugs away)..natural control?
