just curious, how many climbers actually work with a ground squad where someone is qualified for arial rescue

Yep👍 one climber = no climbing.

Our place tends to have 3man teams with min of two climbers ready to go but mainly its all 3 of us

We run either 2 teams of two, or on the bigger stuff, one team of four. So on anything of a reasonable size I'll have a competent climber running the ground.

Just having your CS38 does not mean you would be competent to carry out a rescue in an efficient manner.
