Awesome work Drew and co. Love the ring idea on a continual loop, never seen that before.

What base anchor do you use most? Presume just base tie with a belay device and enough rope to get them to the ground. Or do you use another?

I use the d4 most, purely as I find it real simple to setup- being lowerable isn't really a great plus in my books. For work when cutting is involved I'd rather a canopy anchor

The idea of being able to lower is great, but in reality I find it not practical in most situations. I too opt for the top anchor whilst workin,do you try and isolate from the ground or advance/re-tie when your there?

That's my niggle with srt, find it takes a lot of setup time.

How's that different from isolating in drt though bro?

Na I was meaning advancing if you don't get your final TIP from the throw line. If you base tie can be a pita to change to a top anchor. Am I making sense?

I hear what you're saying Jake.

I find it time-consuming advancing SRT in a busy tree, so I ddrt after initial access to set a final TIP.

So when your at your tie in point Mark, do you pull your tail too the ground to make it retrievable cuz that's what I do if I'm working a tree for a long period. If I'm doing that on a small tree then I often just stay ddrt cuz I'm there already and setup.

I don't really have a problem advancing a top Anchor on srt. 90% of the time I'll climb on a base anchor and just use redirects to get where I want. The climbing is nothing like DdRT, so you don't need to have the main tip right at the top most anchor point. If I do need to make it higher, I generally swap over between redirects and lanyard, then set a static redirect at the desired height.

When you say static redirect do you mean a tied top anchor? If that makes sense. I reckon I need to think more outside the box when climbing srt like you mentioned Dan. Can't help but think the highest tip is the best.

Another question, how many redirects do you carry on ur harness?

Sorry if I've derailed the thread.
