Hi all, I need a new cylinder and piston kit for my 056 Super, and I can't find one anywhere.

I'm sure OEM would be way too expensive (not really looking to spend over a ton), and I'd rather avoid the Chinese aftermarket kits.

Can anyone advise me on where I can find a decent quality aftermarket pot and piston kit?

Cheers in advance, Joe

Yup, sod all. I've got a couple of Cold War era Stihls, they're cool pieces of history, but ornaments, they are not. I need to get it working! I think Stihl make parts for it but OEM is bloody expensive.

Got a 36" on the 56. Big heavy beast. Only really useful for ringing up large timber, but it's underpowered at the moment due to the shagged engine.

none of the good aftermarket companies make 056 top ends.

i dont think anyone makes cylinders for them, but there are no-name chinese pistons available.

stihl possibly still supply oem top ends, but a lot of 056 parts are nla

How can such a popular saw not have available parts!?

because they were never 'that' popular, and production stopped about 25 years ago, whereas other saw's of that era 038,076 etc continued production (and were updated) for other markets
