Do new saws need running in?

Hiya,

I recently bought an echo cs280wes. It's a real nice lightweight saw and I'm very happy with it! However it does seem slow to pick up revs and I don't think it's revving out as it should. So my question is do new saws need running in and will the performance get better with use? Might seem like a stupid question but I have never had the luxury of having a brand new saw before!

It should be in the manual that came with it, telling you how to retune it yourself - or at least how to set back to 'factory setting'.

Its pretty easy to do yourself, but as its new I'm sure the shop you got it from (assuming it wasn't on-line) would tweak them for you.

I also have 280wes and would be interested to know if you manage to get any more out of it.

Mine also seems a bit slow to pick up and rev out.

The best thing I have found for it was to swap to a 10" bar as it is much more nippy.

I think this is the right tool for adjusting the carb:
