Im sorry to hear of your plight, it must be some wrench to leave a house you lived in for 58 years.

 

So, what can I suggest; perhaps sell your house & move to France, this may not be your chosen ideal ( and its not everyone's cup of tea or verre de vin) , but & it is a big but, its a lot easier to be more self sufficient here. You can still buy houses for 30K Euros, OK they will need some work, but I think better than a caravan.

 

Land is cheap & most houses in the country have a fair bit , we grow heaps of vegetables & are almost self sufficient, you need to be fairly practical but its an option if you do your homework & get it right.

It's only been two weeks. I've settled in very well. There's a couple of truck drivers in the opposite corners who have been in vans for years. They are helpful and full of advice.

Funnily enough it wasn't strange at all leaving the old house. It didn't seem like home anymore.

In all honesty I'm much happier now.

I have often thought about life in France, I've only been on a day trip from Jersey but I think I could survive. If I didn't get run over looking the wrong way when crossing the road.

Now you have got me thinking about joining Le Match. com or whatever. This has opened up a whole new world for me.

No fears, no regrets.
