Hi Iv just brought a spider jack 2.1 dyneema and I was just wondering what's the best rope to get for it? Iv got 13mm fire gecko rope and Iv been told using 13mm rope wears the cams down really quickly...

Any advice????

Its not the wear you want to worry about its how it will perform. The thinner the rope the better it will perform...the best rope for it is velocity if you can deal with the diameter (11mm) but for a good median id recommend new england tachyon as its nice to grip and is fairly stiff (unlike the yale alternatives)so will fall through the device well. dont forget to use friction management (cambium saver/ropeguide) to get the best results.

Another vote for tachyon. I tried velocity and didn't get on with it. Definitely agree about the friction saver too, you need one to get the best out of the sj. One thing though, get yourself some spare clutches and springs, I seem to go through them quite quickly.

Tachyon new england is what I have found best for the spiderjack. Been climbing with them both for over a year and work well together...tried a few other ropes such as poison ivy but found it didnt self tend as good. Cam wise...I probs get through one every 2/3 months climbing 6 days a week. when it starts to slip slightly once pressure is applied I then put a new cam in. Make sure u keep it clean and get all the dust ect out the spiderjack as u can certainly tell the diference when you do clean it. Hope this helps :-)
