The Sugihara bars aren't described as being indestructible but from what I can gather they are supposed to last much longer when compared with other bars.

Which Sugihara did you have on the 346xpg? Was it the resin one, or solid?.... ....and what happened for it to bend so soon, did you get it caught up?

Cheers, Steve

Steve,

It was the light pro resin bar the white one, we were felling two weeks solid for biomass job and I think the replaceable nose must of had a weekends because it bent,

There isn't much choice hopefully it gets replaced as a straight swap I hate the original husky bars they are soft as poo,

Oregon power match from rob d maybe?

Oh dear that's not good. Hopefully just a one off problem. Have you let Rob know? I think he supplies FR Jones with the Sugi's. Cheers, steve

No worries Jon, apparently the Husky bars are a bit on the soft side, wear out fairly quick. You may want to consider a Sugihara bar for the long term. I'll be ordering a 15" Sugihara Pro when mine wears out.

I also got an 18" Sugihara Light type Pro bar from Rob at ChainsawBars (the one with resin infilled to reduce the weight). Decided to go with the resin bar as wanted the saw to feel as balanced as possible.

Hope this helps, cheers steve

HI STEVE thanks for that i will ask JUSTIN to give me a price thanks jon

Jon, I think it's worth spending the little extra on the XPG heated handle version  cheers, steve

Currently On FRJones

550XP on 15" bar is £543.76

550xpg on 15" bar is £581.24

Not really relevant today Steve (we were in t shirts and I nearly took mine off at one point!), but I totally agree.

The heated handles on my 560 were a godsend on some of the miserable wet days we had this winter, although it was never really freezing.

Incidentally, my 560 has been faultless. Starts on the button hot or cold and cuts well on an 18". Very responsive.

I look after my saws though. A few Stihl men forget about the red grease when they use Huskies then bitch about them.

Most of my kit is Stihl, but I'm happy buying what is the best tool for the job.

Which means a new 540T tomorrow.

Yes Jon.

Bit of a pain because all my other saws are 3/8, but it runs it well and I've got all the file kits anyway.

Didn't see the point of swapping out the bar and sprocket, although I'm sure Jonesie, Gustharts, Clarks, Skyland or Honeys (or other decent dealers) would supply it 3/8 equipped if you asked.

You're a big man Jon, I reckon a 560 would suit you better.

You wouldn't notice the extra weight, but the extra grunt might be worth having because I know you do a lot of hardwoods.

I think some early Huskies (2011?) had problems with the auto tune, but they seem to have nailed it now.

How these saws will cope when they are 5 years old is anybody's guess.
