If in doubt burn it:-D, or sand it all down nice post it to me and I'll use it for pieces for me chess board.

iroko would clog up the paper and feel oily so i think one of the meranti group is a best guess at the moment.

 

 

 

end of the day dan if it's hard enough and you have a use for it, use it...

 

 

 

if it's hard enough for flooring it will be useful for other purposes.

 

 

It has almost made the sand paper band almost useless just from the one piece!

Lmao 😝 i was joking. I was interested to know what it was and if it had any use at all, as ive got quite a fair bit of the stuff.

 

But itll stay with me and ill use it for some sort of project 👍

i know fellas, i should stop trying to tell everyone what to do i suppose.

 

it's my wish that everyone in the world should use trees to their full potential but not everyone seems to care as much as i.

 

 

what would you contrast this wood with for a chessboard ian?

 

 

i know your only joking dan, the brown oak will have lost a bit of weight by now but have got a lot on my plate for the next couple of weeks.

 

with the offcuts i have i can see the wood mounting up, there will be one full pallet here...

I'll need a proper look at a piece first and give it a bit of an oil, as if it is iroko I might go completely light like maple. Or something completely different .
