homeowners and saws

Hi guys ,I have rented a workshop with courtyard I do Chainsaw carving / milling and was thinking about running an Introduction to Chainsaws Course for home owners who wan to cut logs just saftey(kickback zone sharpening etc ) not accredit just van informal day to make sure people are safe cutting firewood at home what do you all think and how do you think i would stand legally look forward to your comments Cheers Mark

Sounds a great idea, most folk I've seen using a chainsaw make me cringe, people don't understand the dangers and how very quickly things can go wrong.

 

Check out the insurance implications, I imagine they would be huge. Health and safety Britain being what it is.....

 

Could check out if you could get some sort of sponsorship or local council grant to cover some of the costs. Saving money for the NHS etc :)

I think its a great idea, but I think you will need to research the legalities, insurance, whether you need to have tutorial training yourself to teach, also a disclaimer for them to sign which absolves you of any liability should they wish to weild a chainsaw after the course etc.

The homeowner & the chainsaw are a dangerous combo, I even felled an apple for nowt for a neighbour I was working for once because he was so scarily dangerous waving this saw around, it was only a matter of time before he ended up in A&E.
