I made a gag, in another thread, about using old boot laces, washing line and dog leads tied together for rope. I thought it might lead to an entertaining thread. So.... What have you used on the job (or elsewhere) that is designed for something else entirely? Prizes for the most ridiculous.....no prizes really.:001_tongue:

Bailer twine! Iv used it for many many things!

I have even used it to lash a leaf spring and axel together as a 'get me home' fix and if you braid several strands together, you will be amazed what you can tow with it lol!

Many years ago I worked in Madeira felling large Eucalyptus way up in the mountains. Back then we never had throw lines so I fashioned a throw line out of baler twine and pretty much any other thin cord and whittled weights out of wood, or tied a suitable stone to it.

Excellent when it worked, sole destroying when it didn't...!
