The Ultimate arboriculture book... Comments please.

Hi all,

 

There are tons of good books on various tree related subjects out there, I've got a few myself. But, I'm looking to drop a few bucks on one meaty, possibly expensive, comprehensive tome on the subject of Arboriculture.

 

There's Shigo's Modern Arboriculture and there's Arboriculture Integrated Management of Trees, Shrubs and Vines. Which of these, or another of your books on the subject are falling apart because you go back to them over and over again?

Great book that covers the fundamentals of pretty much everything. Sometimes not in huge detail, but a very wide array is covered!

 

If you are looking to 'drop a few bucks', I've had my eye on the Encyclopedia of Forest Sciences. It costs about £1200 for a new volume though!

Diagnosis of ill health in trees is a great book

A lot of information covered but getting one of the old editions is next to impossible.

New edition was published by AA or ISA i think

+1 on Bob Watson. Top book.

 

If you're after Shigos stuff, have a look on his website. Last time I looked they were a lot cheaper there than Amazon, etc...

'the body language of trees' by Claus Mattheck and Helge Breloer is a very good companion to 'Diagnosis of ill health in trees'.
