Being a tree surgeon is there any specific First Aid courses i would need to take, or would it be okay to go straight through St.Johns first aid course ?

Look at ArbAid they do specialist arb first aid training St Johns is good

Just done my 2 day refresher with St. John's ,pretty much covers every thing

See if you can find a first aid trainer who does the +F courses.

 

These are aimed at forestry workers and cover stuff like bleeding and crush injuries in addition to the normal first aid at work basics.

Hi, St Johns, unless specifically catering for the tree surgery / arb sector, would meet the minimum requirements for compliance.

 

HSE (strongly) recommend FA training should be relevant to your industry, hence the comments about ArbAid and ABC who deliver this so it's much better really.

 

If you can access a course that is industry specific and includes the +F (plus Forestry, inc. arb) suffix it may be beneficial as certain clients prefer it or insist on it (Forestry Commission.)

We (North Pennines Training & Adventure) run a range of specifically tailored courses including EFAW+F and FAW+F. We also run an outdoor first aid course that is designed from the ground up for people working outdoors. It is 16 hours over 2 days and can be offered with dual certification to provide EFAW+F.

 

But now I've looked at your location the commute would be hellish! We will travel anywhere in the UK if there is sufficient demand however..........
