Hi arbpeople!

I've got an interview coming up with hi line. As far as i'm aware they predominantly do line clearance, but thats all i know.

can anyone shed any light on what they are like to work for as a company? do they do any other type of work other than line clearance?

The idea for me is to get some serious time in climbing. But i feel slightly unsure as i've never been drawn to working with trees in that manor..

any insight/advice would be appreciated :001_smile:

i have worked for hi-line.

they can be good at putting you through tickets and training.

they where not so good when it came to me because i never went to the yard and didnt see the managers very often, i didnt get half the stuff i needed.. was working for a year before i had my ua1 (my team was based in taunton).

there seems to be no pay scale.. you start off on what ever you can blag in the interview... you can have a real noddy on 3 quid an hour more.

They do have a private team working for private clients and on the council contracts but 95% of there work is line clearance.

to sum it up.

The work is not to tasking, the pay was quite good (compared to other employers i had) and they supply decent ppe (you supply your saws and chains) and guaranteed work.

I recommend that anyone wishing to provide information about Hi Line to the original poster should send him a PM.

This forum is not to be used to air grievances about companies and any such posts will be deleted. Thanks.

I did a stint with them, the are a good company, put you through lots of training if needed and i seemed to get kit that i asked for fairly swiftly despite not being based at their exeter hq.

So thats the company.

But yeh it's mostly utility work which is soul destroying to put it best. If sitting for hours waiting for the leccy company to turn off the power or doing really boring LV mewp work is your bag, then go for it ;)
