would it be worth while getting a mill for my 372xp?

i do not want to mill big timber, and can not afford a bigger saw at the moment.

what size bar do you think? i was thinking 24inch bar with the 24 '' alaskan mill.

will the saw be up to it?

i know i need a ripping chain any other advice?

thanks in advance

I've got a 36" bar for my 372xp for milling. It has worked well and has milled a few trees. I take it easy mind. I'm not doing that commercially, basically on a very occasional use.

There will be folks on here that will jump up and down at me for doing this as on previous threads on the matter.:sneaky2:

I have now invested in a couple of ripping chains to put on my 24" bar. mainly due to the size of the logs rather than not using the bigger bar cos I'm not supposed to. lol.

So from my experience I would say the saw is up to it especially on a 24" bar.

You will loose a few inches when you attach the mill. I will leave that to others to discuss.

I'm bracing myself......

24" alaskan from Rob d at chainsaw bars. Com. With a 28" bar your max cut on this mill will be between 22 and 23". Make sure you invest in the granberg ripping chain as it will make all the difference on a small saw. There a bugger to sharpen by hand so you may also want to consider a granberg 12v grinder.
