Yep,video captures it. In my rather more basic version I tend to just stick my dowel plate over the top of the slightly open jaws of the vice.

Step 1: made my first greenwood mallet today, to wack the froe with (from a single piece of hornbeam - tools used; hand saw, small axe, stanley knife).

It weighs in at 1.8kg

This one is a medium weight.

Will also be making a proper heavy weight version

And a light weight version for lazy days :lol:

Not made any pegs yet but I have got a nice collection of wibbly wobbly oak branches, here's some of them....

Yep, doesn't get more rustic than this!

Some have been pulled out of a swampy area next to the brook.... could be many 1,000's of years old! :laugh1:

 

I'm hoping critters and bugs might like to live on the wibbly wobbly wood and eat the aphids (aphids enjoy buggering up roses).
