I really don't consider that 30 mins of my time lost! Wonderful finds and thanks for sharing.

 

I did a short stint in Vernon Barber's sawmill at Turnditch under his son, Gordon, back in the early 1980's, I also spent time with Keith and Sid at the Long Whatton Estate sawmill and they taught me a lot about their Robinson reciprocating mill etc. So much so, I helped the importer of the Taff tractors with his double reciprocater at the Stockton Gaylord festival some years ago and was able to assist in its first run with some handy tips on set up!

 

Back in the depths of time, my family converted wood in their sawmills and I still have a set off conversion tables for coffin sets and sawn timber from the 1950'S.

 

Much of the timber the cut went to prop up the coal mines of Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire upto the mid 1970's.

I don't know if theres any videos about of the sawmill at tinkers bubble but its an amazing thing .. only takes the same amount of wood as a stove wood too ..
