Best kit for starting out milling?

Haha, ok cheers, what size mill do you reckon i'll need then? I've only got a 30" one at the moment.

I would go for a 48" mill if you think you might get access to big enough timber, 36" otherwise. The extra length of the 48" isn't too inconvenient (Burrell uses one shortened up to a 25" bar for milling 18" stuff). 36" is a good all-round size and will get through almost everything you come across with a bit of work.

Is that an 076av you use? If so is it good for milling? Only I'm looking into getting one, also does it run a 48 inch ok for felling? Cheers!

What do you think the 660 would pull like on a 36" bar when milling?

I'm tempted to get the 660 over the 880 as for general use its a lot lighter than the 880 (although a fair bit less powerful than the 880) so it may mean it would get more use than if i brought the 880. .
