Perkins vs Cummins ?

If its the same 1300 series I am thinking we have worked on them since the early nineties. Think it was an American Nav star engine to start with. Seen plenty with timing gear problems cracked water pumps and turbos hanging off. I dont recognise the 6bta could be more of a truck engine. worked on lots of nta and KTTA 50 . Generally the Cummins is a better product but they have made the odd turd as well especially the L series and the latest small engines.

the L series wasn't that bad the m series was excellent and the k series was superb apart from the ktta19 which was over boosted for our application

Turns out the Perkins is as you say; a Navistar built under licence and pretty much identical to the cummins which replaced it (only option).
