ART Positioner

Looking for a bit of advice really.

One of my mates has given me an ART postioner. To cut a long story short, his boss sold it to him, he never used and and therefore sold it to me.

My question is this. I believe that its a 2004 model and it still has the small rubber rings on a zip tie attached to the ring. They have perished where they've not been used for a long time. Do I need these to operate it? I've set it up and had a play with it on the ground, and it works just like a Lockjack. I obviously want a bit of clarification before I take it to dangerous heights. The rubber rings are (as far as I can work out) only there to aid the cam locking onto the rope. If I'm putting weight into the system, do I need to get some more rubbers ( Behave!! ) or will it still be useable and pass a LOLER??

I can stick some pics up if it will help anyone, but I was hoping there would be a few guys on here that have and use one of these and could give me a bit of advice.

Cheers for reading.

The positioner i got from Jonesie has not got any rubbers, in fact it hasn't got a ring? its just a disk with a swivel attachment and a guide for the rope.http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://www.gustharts.com/uploads/products/fullsize/Postitioner.jpg&imgrefurl=https://www.gustharts.com/Products/Arborist%2520Equipment/Arborist%2520Climbing%2520Equipment/A.R.T.%2520Advanced%2520Ropeclimbing%2520Technology/Product/ART%2520Positioner/&usg=__lbWSM8ZoNzpAXcXFp5KCiHx_lgs=&h=300&w=300&sz=33&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=6V4Kr6UEqH_viM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dart%2Bpositioner%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1

I had an old one like that and it worked fine without the rubbers. It makes it slower to respond but it still lock under pressure, and releases better. I actually prefered it without.

As for loler? I don't know, but I would doubt it would pass though.

Actually I do know, but its for your loler guy to decide.
