Sink cut

Watching vids on youtube on big tree felling whist doing the sink cut some do the bottom cut then cut down diagonal to make the gob and others do the diagonal cut first then match up with the bottom cut is there a right or wrong way could you fail an assessment for doing the bottom cut first then the diagonal one. I was just wondering thats all.

the bottom cut was how it was done with an axe and a cross cut ,bottm cut then chop out the gob ,its easier to line up doing the top cot 1,st, for me any way

I tend to do the diagonal cut first - then you can look down it to see the bottom cut line up.

Everybody is different.. this has been discussed at length in the past.... I make my horizontal cut first, so you can use the gunning sights correctly aiming the tree where you want it, then I make the diagonal cut.....

I always do the bottom cut then the diagonal one old school just because thats how my dad does it after a life time in forestry/tree surgery, I can even remember what I did on my assessment as it was so long ago, I know they teach the diagonal cut first so your gob lines up rite.
