Alternative saw placement.

I may sound old fashioned but in our day we used,and still use a tool line which the groundsman hangs onto.

i just get on with it, i pull it up myself and clip it on. it may be uncomfortable but its only there while you are working.

Hey you started me along these lines with your nifty idea about an adjustable tool line!!

Absoloutly, but with that way of thinking we'd still be climbing in uncomfortable leather harness, using pole spikes and 3 strand rope.

 

So why be uncomfortable when you can be comfortable.

One climber I worked with always installed a tool-line with micro pulley ready for the big saw, the changeover from small to large saw was smooth and fluid, as he'd give me the nod as he was finishing his last (small saw) cut. TIP FOR GROUNDIES! WARM THE BIG SAW UP!!

I just use my hitch climber for getting the groundies to send the saw up or down, simple.

so what that means you have to carry around a light lowering line around with you all the time. doesn't seem logical either having a sling around the stem, as much hassle as moving a rigging block down. a second tool line only seems viable if your working on a twin stemed tree. suspender attachment is the go

Actually it all depends upon whether you have an ass, or not. No assatall means you'll need suspenders, period.

II'll lower my 020 down on the lowering rope when I've finnished with it and have the groundie attach the big saw to the lowering liint and pull it up.

 

I have a harness with the suspender attachment,it works great for me and wouldn't go without it for sustained big saw use in a tree.

 

If I've been blocking or snatchin down for ages and am knackered,I'll turn off the saw and just park it ontop of the stem and have a rest..
