Probably wrong

at least I hope I am,

I was looking at the tree motion documentation the other day, trying to find out about the life span of the harness (something that keeps coming up at work) and found this!

It looks to me as if the diagram shows that both attachment d’s, combined and rope bridge only give you a 15 kn breaking weight, apposed to the 22 req.

Probably wrong, but searched arbtalk and can’t find any other info on it

Try Pm'ing chris cowell, he'll give you the info you need directly. Something to do with harnessess meeting certain criteria which is different to krabs etc. The 22kn limit you are quoting is for karabiners, and maybe ropes, not sure. These Items could be used in a rescue with two poeple on them, harnesses are just for one person so different regs. Chris will explain it betterer.

i asked about this when i bought one and its a bit complex but basically everything needs to start at 22kn to allow for reductions

i.e the bridge rope starts over 22 kn and then when the nots are tied in the end it drops

another i.e if you buy a length of gecko its about 2400kg and if you buy a spliced one it,s about 1900kg so under 2200kg

all those are of top if needed will find full info

Thanks for the info guys, it’s nothing too crucial, just had a UA 2.3 the other day and the assessor gave me a bit of a grilling on my harness and gear, (TM envy I recon, as I got it for free on the Co.)

I think answered that all PPE had to be 22kn, which I thought to be correct, but then I saw this! Maybe he was just talking about biners, pulleys and ropes. I.e. anything that can be used in a rescue.

it doesn’t matter.I past, but will have a word with one the training guys about it next time I see them.

thought I’d better post it anyway, just in-case there’s any 1.5 ton blokes climbing on one.

I thought the same until I saw the dir.

From the placement of the numbers looks like both together only make up 15kn, making them a measly 7.kn each. I say "measly” I could still hang my chipper off it
