bowline running bowline bowline on a bight all good knots i use all the time

the bowline on a bight is very good for shortening a rope when pulling trees with a winch/mog/landy etc

and it always comes apart afterwards

i also use butterfly and alpine butterfly for a few jobs

cow hitch, timber hitch, clove hith constricter is good for slippy things

and of course the mos used knot of all the marine spike

quick hitch for sending rigging lines up.

I have always used a sheet bend (well a slipped sheet bend) for this purpose and i didn't know how to tie a quick hitch until i read your post. I now consider the quick hitch to be much better for this purpose and will be using it from now on! Thank you! This forum does work!

Marline spike i use a lot (when i worked with Yanks they called it a slipknot)

Rod, is a butterfly and an alpine butterfly the same knot or different mate?

and is a clove hitch same as clove hitch constricter? Never heard of that

Zeppelin bend is useful to know for joining two ropes together.

Holds fast and is good to untie afterwards.

Handy for any 'unusual' off set winching, when you need a very long rope.

Or getting you out of a hole, like when junior members of staff have felled the spar tree for your snatch block.:001_smile:
