Ms 201t won't stop revving??

Right after taking the handle apart on my 201t (with all components springing out) trying to resolve the issue of my saw constantly revving, I put everything back together but unfortunately still having the same issue!! My thoughts now are either the clutch or it needs a tune up? Any advise would be great. Cheers.

Clutch would drop the revs and cause it to stall, or give chain creep, if the revs are much higher than recommended then either the mixture at the carb is too lean or you have an air leak

What he said. Or the throttle linkage is getting stuck.

 

First try and see if any adjustment not he screws make a difference. If no difference is heard then it's an air leak.

Before you get too carried away with air leaks etc, it will be worth checking that the throttle butterfly is fully closing and that the throttle shaft arm is fully against the LA screw.

 

I have had butterflies come loose when the little screw in the centre loosens.

Ok great thanks everyone. It's fine when I first start it, it idles lovely but as soon as I push the trigger then the revs don't die down even after I have released the trigger and the chain is spinning like mad??!! Anymore help for you helpful people?

Does it still do it if you stop it when it races and then restart it?

 

Other than looking down to ensure the throttle is fully closing.

It only seems to be after I have used the throttle but as I said I took the handle apart and nothing sticking unless it is on the carb?

Throttle sticking some where or an air leak.

I have had an air leak on my 200t in the past.

Right then, so what does an air leak mean for my saw? If this is the problem? Cheers
