Farmi mastersplit question!

Im just wondering if any other Farmi mastersplit owners have the problem where the chainsaw doesnt always run at full speed? Ours seems to have 3 speeds to it and you seem to have to pull it back and forth a few times to get it running at full speed but sometimes it goes full tilt on the first pull.

Alpine tractors told me to take the switch/valve apart and clean it which i have but havnt made any difference. Hydraulic fluid is also full.

Cheers

Ash

Had the same problem after machine had sat outside for a while. Took the chainsaw control valve apart cleaned it up and it sorted it. Does the valve move correctly when the machine is not running if you pull the bar down by hand.

Yea we have taken that apart but it was clean inside. Greased it back up and put it back together. Its odd because it will run flat out for a few pulls then it wont for the next couple, just do intermittent!

Seems like the valve is moving fine when you pull it without the machine running. We have adjusted the little plate in different positions as well to check if that makes any difference.

We had this problem a few weeks back but chainsaw was slow all the time it turned out the plate that neutralises the ram was worn, so would not neutralise the the ram when the ram returned, just welded a quarter inch extension on the plate on the splitting end runs fine now.

Can't help any more than that I am afraid. Can you try it off the Pto and see if that makes a difference. If you ring and speak to Jim he will sort it out for you and if he can't he will find some one that can. If there off until new year I'll give you his mobile number.

Hi Ash,

Its almost certainly the chainsaw valve.

It sounds like you have taken the cap off one side of the valve and freed that all up.

Might be worth taking the cap off the other side of the valve (bit of a bitch to get to, you might have to unbolt the entire valve and leave it hanging on the pipes).

Under that cap there is a spring, I wonder if the spring is broken maybe, or there is some corrosion under there so that the valve isnt actuating fully all the time.

While you are checking things, just make sure that there is nothing jamming the splitting ram when it returns, as even if there is something little it can just hold it off the stop and reduce the saw power.

Please let me know what you find as it helps me fault find in the future!
