The arbtalk fungi app is pucka, the aa arborists field guide is also good and the latest photographic Collins guide is a good all rounder with less focus on trees and fungi. All reasonably priced too

seconded on the AA field guide for tree fung. for everything else I use 'mushrooms' by roger phillips which also contains brackets but doesn't go into decay strategies. good book.

Thanks all for encouraging remarks about the AA field guides, and indeed for contributions to ('Mr Humphries'). It's really good to get confirmation that it's useful and helpful to practitioners.

Can I also make a plug for Mathecks "Manual of Wood Decay in Trees" which gives a deeper insight to trees n fungi and explains modes of decay etc. very well indeed (highly recommended I would say.)

See Manual of Wood Decays in Trees

Cheers..

Paul
