Oak extracting.

I have a slight problem, I've had to thin out about 20 acres of oak forest and access is a real problem. Got everything down in nice stacks but the tricky bit is removal; there is about 60 tons (give or take) so have ruled out quad as will take to long to do and trailer is not an option. What i'm thinking of is getting a 3t dumper truck in to do the job and looking for anyones opinion as to practicality of using one or any other options.

you could get one of those mini tractor things with a trailer and crane they are quite good

Can you hire them out? dont want to make to many big purchaes on job.

we did a simillarly orkward job a while back and used our quad and its little timber trailer but we got sick of hand loading it and got a bloke with his little tractor (cant remember the name of it) but it had a larger timber trailer and crane slightly bigger than the quad

 

any way i guess it was hired in so you must be able to hire them i should think

Horse logging is obsolete.

 

Moose logging is the future.

if you go the dumper route, go for a 5ton 4x4 one-anything less isnt really worth it/up to it-we use a 5tonner quite alot for woodland work
