Tipping trailer/chip box.

Amazes me why Ifor have never cottoned on to this!

Why are they so happy to sell high sides and refuse to clad them with something smooth is beyond me! All you guys bolting and riveting sheets of this, that, and the other on, simply adding weight are doing Ifors street cred no good what so ever.

One of the main reasons I will only buy from a manufacturer that will build to spec, instead of the "you can have what's on the shelf" attitude builder.

The pro tipper option is a very good way out for you guys already committed though, sure is the dog's nudgers that!:thumbup1:

Yes that's a Pro Tipper special, in 3mm aluminium. Weighs the same as the standard drop sides, but holds 9.3 m3 to the brim. In practise I only fill it to 3/4 capacity, any more and the chips start bouncing out. It does hold a lot of rakings and clippings.

Not cheap though, there's a lot of ally in there. Looks good sign written too.

I have a ifor tt2515 which is a new shape tt85 (tipper) I tow it with a vw transporter. I struggle for space as its my only chip box! Got the chance of a gd105 which is a low general duty trailer which will hold loads more. Not sure how much I'll miss the tipper function. What do you guys recon. Bigger trailer to hold more which requires hand balling out? Or smaller trailer with a higher floor level, holds less but only 5 minutes at the chip tipping site? Same, don't go down the shoveling chip way as its always at the end of the day when your already knackered and unless you tip site is miles away from all your work the time you'll save is negligible compared to a few runs tip and back.

How much can a transporter tow anyhow?

The other thing is this, when I do a job I go from home to job site, drop off groundie and trailer, then hire shop to get tracked chipper on trailer (£15 extra for trailer hire) then back to job site. Put 8x5 tipper trailer back on then do job! Then tip trailer and take home back to job site pick up groundie and chipper on hired trailer, drop off at hire shop then home for well earned rest oh and fuel station as I have probably done a good 100 miles or so!

So a ifor williams gd105 could take the chipper on way to job then could cut out some trailing about! But on the down side the trailer would need manually unloading!

I can't afford to get a tt3017 10ft tipper and also the 10ft tipper is considerably heavier!

Do you recon still keep tipper?

Trailer pictured below is what I am thinking of getting

What type of chipper as I used to put my old tracked tw 150 on the ifor 85, just don't corner too fast.

I think if you end up shoveling. Chip off that full it would take about 30-40min so if a longer day might miss the closing time with Hire shop but if the chipper is on its own trailer than at least you can take that back before dealing with your own trailer.

I'd hold out for a bigger tipper.

I got an ifor 105 tipper a month or so ago but only with standard sides On which has been excellent for shifting timber stump grinders and safetrac behind the landy but I have some jobs coming up that are going to produce a lot of chip each day. Plan is to take chipper with rb fill that then fill trailer behind landy but need high sides to make the most of capacities so is it,

A) plywood, cheep but temporary.

B) ifor mesh Kit and a thin ply skin, £600+

C) get ally plank sides same as the rb made to match, price unknown

So anybody got picks of theirs?

I think ifor mesh kit with mesh cut off and 2mm galved sheet welded on then re galved so it won't rust. Make a canopy out of ally and bolt it to the insides of your sides so you can fill every inch of the trailer.
