Dolmar 5105 vs ?

There are lots of Dolmars being used in the USA but (as far as i have researched) very little reporting of problems.

 

Quite happy to use my Silky Saw as a backup! There's always lots of other jobs to get on with on our farm so not too concerned about chainsaw service/ repair times. But if i was a full time arborist I'd want a husky as backup.

 

OK, I was just pointing out, that the number of online problem reports cannot be used as a valid measure for reliabiliy. I know about the problems that MS 261 and 560 XP have had, but I also know many happy owners.

 

But if you don't rely on the saw being available every day, I agree that having to wait for a few days to receive spares is not that big of a problem. But for me, it would be

at the end of the day everybody likes certain saws, different tools etc it would

be nice to have another choice on the market for everbody to choose from

Would also be good to have some extra competition in the UK as I think current prices from the Big 2 saw manufacturers are very high.

 

The Dolmar is very well priced in the USA and the quality easily compares.

 

+20% V.A.T not helping here either.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. STIHL have become far too complacent, and need someone competent breathing down their necks. I doubt, however, if that is likely to be Dolmar. In fact, I would rather think it could be Makita, as they have the marketing muscle and distribution network to pull it off.

its also a shame that jonsereds are limited in there range of saws

But Dolmar has the pedigree, Makita doesn't in the woods.

 

Makita can make the best blinkin' saw you've ever known but I STILL DON'T WANT ONE!!! Hello Makita?! Comprende?! Dolmar make your saws for you and you insist on the UK having your name and livery? I grew up with Dolmars, I want Dolmars! (toys out of pram lol ). That means I want it in dolmar name and livery. Yes.
