Exactly. unless they're doing it all themselves and selling for firewood there can't be much in it.

 

Even if they're doing that there's nothing in it. I can still just about buy in timber from local sources at approx £40/ton delivered. Selling at £100 a cube there's no money in it. Bollocks to paying £40 standing!!

At £80 delivered in, one cube of firewood will have a cost the producer £50 in wood.

 

Someone will still be selling it for £60-70/m3 though!

HI HODGE may be more mate if you to deliver in a long way mate thats £2k plus per 26 ton load how can some sell longs £110/120 a cab star long base for :lol:thanks jon

Is this very high standing price genuinely only for small to mid diameter cord or are there logs of higher value hiding in the stand too? I have a beech stand which has a quantity of £400-500 oak with knackered crowns but good stems.

 

The increase in the price of cord over the last 5 yrs has enabled me to justify thinning some stands, some hi lead extractions! However silly high standing prices are clearly not sustainable especially when you do the £ per kw comparisons with oil and lpg.
