If my phone gets nicked I can go on-line, and it will tell me where it is.

Are there no cheap trackers that work on the mobile network?

I have just had a garage alarmed using a mobile phone type alarm system, fitted by ADT. Works perfectly.

A pay as you go phone hidden in a Land Rover, linked up to a permanent power supply may work. weld it in a box in the floor.

Even if the cars power is cut off, battery disconnected, you would still have 8 or more hours to find it.

Worth a thought, my next but one neighbours house was burgled recently, I-pads and I-phones not touched. Also I had a guy knock on the door asking me if my neighbour owned the local coffee shop, the answer was yes, so he said that's OK then as my I-Pad is in his house, I left it in the coffee shop.
