Feed roller springs gone saggy.

Hello.

Had my friend do a job for me today with his tracked timberwolf...

When putting/ shoving the brash in it was not pulling it in very well and at times you had to wrench the branches about to get them to chip.

This is different to when I first used the chipper a few years ago when it smash anything you to get to the rollers!

 

It is on about 1200 hours and I was wondering if the springs on the feed rollers would be the issue? You can pull the springs out of there seat with no trouble at all!

 

Any thoughts or experience of this problem?

Tension springs can loose their "metal memory" and go slack. Check also that the chipper blades are sharp and the shear bars/anvil are in good order. If they are not in good order, chipping performance will be reduced too.
