We've been asked to install 20' live Christmas trees outside commercial premises on street level.

I presume a steel tube is sunk into the ground to avoid guy lines etc. Does anyone know the specification in terms of depth and diameter to support a tree of this height?

Any installation advice greatly appreciated no point re-inventing the wheel.

Thanks

We put them in the ground 1000mm deep, 200mm dia, plastic sewer pipe. concrete in a nice sharp square hole with about .6m3 of concrete around it. The exact volume depends on the ground conditions. We use this up to 28ft height. Probably a bit over spec for a 20 ft tree.

Yep.

As above.

Handy hint, cut a circle of plywood slightly smaller than the hole to spike to the base of the tree to centre it in the bottom of the hole.

For 5m/6m trees a 9" plastic sewer pipe is plenty.
