I actually thought that there was a bit of camera trickery going, due to the angle of shot etc, and that he didnt actually cut it.

Matt was in his own property, his own orchard. So long as it's your own land you can do what you like, in shorts and flip flops if you want.

 

That is not quite true though, is it?

 

Matt was doing his job, and getting paid (That is, his job as a TV presenter) Regardless of who owns the land, his activities will be covered be the Health and Safety at work act.

 

His employer (the BBC or whatever organisation actually make the program) would have had to comply with all usual aspects of health and safety law.
