I used to have a mini woodstove in the back of my landrover. Used to do my woodmans porridge in the morning and burn my toes in the night!

It was lovely, tastes even better when its cooked for free , extra red wine for taste . I wouldnt want to leave our fan oven on for that long:thumbdown:

Few pints of Mulled cider today, lovely when I was out in the garden redesigning my log store. Role on Christmas will try a different recipe every day.

Very jealous of those 'flat tops!' Ours was in the house when we moved in and although it's a beauty, and has proved much dough and dried many chillies, I do wish for a flat top!

No joking but we have only turned our cooker on for 1 hour in in 8 days and that was to cook a pie. Every thing else on the log burner my misses even cooked a quiche on it the weekend it was lovely. And i cooked a leg of lamb on sunday. The only thing i havnt managed to do is to get the food to brown on top any ideas or is it not possible?

We have a skillet on ours with a kettle permanently on.

 

Once the kettle boils we put it on the skillet. If the stove is maintained at 400-500F it'll simmer at drinking temperature without steaming for hours. When ready for a brew the kettle can be boosted by placing directly on the stove for a minute or two - but it doesn't really need it.

 

If the stove is running, we will use it for cooking. The kettle and pans are stainless steel. Looking into a tagine for casseroles.

Any luck with the tagine Paolo? Today were cooking steake and kidney stew , sunday we did a roast chicken upside down in the pan . it was fantastic, food really does taste better in my opinion .
