my dad is having probs again with his 88 not oiling...well it is its but doing about 5th of a tank of oil to a tank of fuel!any ideas ??

have you done the usual stuff, clean out tank, wee filter, blown out wee tube from bar side etc. what about the wee bit under the clutch cup, that turns the pump, if it doesnt get cleaned out properly the end will break off, chewing through all the crapp, so it will turn a wee bit so will use some.:001_smile:

Hes cleaned the tank ect,he is bringing it down for me to look at,i thought the gear under the clutch would be the problem just wondering if it was common for them to break?? i will ring up the saw shop and order one if it is ,so we can hope fully get it running right for a big tree he's gotta do next week ,other wise he will be wearing out the ms46!!!

i have only ever broke one, it was on my first ever 026, i didnt know what it was, i had never cleaned behind the cup. that day put me right in the you know what,i was miles away from home and had to grind my way through stuff all day, pouring oil on the bar. i went to the local dealer the next day and bought a spare 026 and a compressor with blowy gun. best thing ever imo:001_smile:

If your taking the Clutch cover off, might as well treat it to a new Roller Bearing set.Or give it a light grease.

When they go the saw is out of action and they don't cost much.

you can get a clutch kit, roller bearing, washer, circlips. i always carry spares. nothing like hitting a bit of string and the circlip gets knocked off and you cant find anything on the ground:thumbdown:
