Douglas Fir poles

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm after a bit of advice. I'm based in West Sussex and in need of some Douglas Fir poles. The poles need to be 18-20ft long with a butt end of about 4" and tip end of about an inch. I imagine this will be first thinnings? It will probably be in the region of 1000 poles to start with (sorry I have no tonnage for that volume).

Could any one point me in the right direction; options are find a suitable site and remove the timber myself (experienced, qualified and capable of doing this) or locate some cut timber and arrange delivery or collect from roadside/yard or block. To be honest, I would rather cut and extract myself as this is probably a more reliable and reasonable option.

Lots of questions I know but most my work recently has been residential or hard wood thinnings.

I have researched this before posting and emailed a few firms and this has been one place advised to me.

PM if you can help or give me a nudge in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Dave
