L200

I'm thinking about getting a L200 that has had a rear end shunt. My brothers company recovered the motor after the smash. He has had one of his mechanics give it a good look over. From what I'm told it has not done any (real) damage. It's on a 05 plate and at what I think is the right money. It is an insurance write off.

Anyone insured a pick up that has been wrote off before? If so does it cost more to insure? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

I would make sure that the engine runs. How any miles on the engine?, is there any service record from the previous owner?. Check the transmission fluid for color and smell.

If the color is dark and smell is burnt fluid that is not a good combo. Without dropping the drain pan for either engine oil or transmission fluid you might want to have that checked for wear. My friend recovers "swimmers" from on line auctions and rebuilds them to use and sell. Good hunting.

Most should be manual transmission. If the tub has taken most of the force ditch it and put a tipping body on. £1500 ? will be recorded so worth less when resold. Will probably need an engineers report to say its been repaired correctly before they will insure it again.

as long as the chassis is ok and the rear tub was just damaged go for it and rip off and put a tray top on

if I was using a pickup I would have to have a tray top as they are so handy

here is some ideas
