do the rams drift quite badly or can you rotate the grab by hand also is the circuit on the forklift double or single acting

It looks to me like you don't have enough Hyd services available on the handler to operate all the services on the grab/rotator. As I see it you only have enough to operate one of the functions,ie grab open/close requires two pipes (one to open,one to close) or rotor clockwise/anticlockwise (one to rotate clockwise,one to rotate anti clockwise) difficult to say from pics,but you should need 2 services on the handler (2 seperate levers in cab or electronic change over solenoid) 4 hoses from handler to grab to operate both the functions. Am I making any sense? Or am I reading this all wrong???

After reading all the posts again I see your already using a diverter valve to gain the extra service,need to see pics of the valve as already mentioned,as it still sounds as though it's piped wrong.

the grab opens and shuts fine but when i activate the solenoid to use the rotator it only goes one way, will move the other way very slightley but not much at all. You can rotate large logs by hand but sometimes it goes stiff and you have to rock it. Im pretty sure the pipework is correct as i piped it as the diagram sugested.

Cant really warrent buying a new rotator at the moment:scared1:

If you can spin it by hand when it's connected to a hydraulic service then the seals are shot.

This is what i thought! Anyone know who may be able to supply a seal kit?

which seals are you thinking about it cant be the centre post seals as they have nothing to do with rotation does the motor have a crossover valve on it, dual direction motors generally speaking if they rotate one way they rotate the other way is there definately nothing else you are missing other valves etc

the diverter valve is on the end of the boom, the two pipes from the top goto the feed from the machine, the 2 on the left goto the ram on the grab which works fine and the 2 on the right should run the rotator which i am having problems with

not 100% sure I was hoping to be able to buy a kit to replace all the seals in the rotator, im quite sure there are no valves missing, the oils going where it should its just not doing what it should!
