A guy at college was saying that the health and saftey lot (bless their little cotton socks) are disscussing Arborists tree climbing using two anchor points at all times. Something about them trying to cut down on accidents. I dont know if anyone else has heard this or is just rumour control?

Do they mean ascending the tree or just moving around the canopy..i dont know.

they've thought about that b4 , re work @ height leg

it didn't get through then either

totally impractical , totally unenforcable , how will they know, as when an accident happens, a throw line would soon take care of any problem

how can you double anchor on the stem dismantle,

my double point are each at the end of my gaffs

academics who have no of knowledge practical applcation will get shot down whenever this raises its head, people who professionally climb are much more aware of their own mortallity anchor point + work positioning strop fine but double anchor as a requirement Not , lets face it a double line in a lombardy full of eppi ' is more of a hazard than it is a saftey enhancement

also any risk assessment that sees a double line as a health risk would negate any potentially perceived benefit

imagine the **** storm the first time a climber was physically ripped apart because a section being removed ended caught in one of these extra points

Its bad enough to be pulled out of a tree but to torn in 2 No thanks !!

rant over

iain

please dont abuse me over this

we are supposed to all work to the working at heights regs which states you should climb on a double rope system

you should only climb on a single system if you have justified it in a generic risk assessment then its ok which is what we have done:wave::wave::wave::wave:
