550xp max bar size?

Thanks sawtroll and coletti. Have an 18" oregon pro lite bar and chain ordered. It will do all I need. Was looking at 372s last night and they are not as big of money s/hand as I first thought... So maybe sooner than later I know the 576xp has a few more kw than the 372xp but the 372 is a nicer handling saw right?

Go for the narrow kerf one with the 95vpx (.325 .050 72dl) chain - it saps less power.

I got the 21 Lpx .058... Will it sap much extra power? Pity I didn't know this before I made the order.

372 is almost identical power as 576 but supposedly not quite as much torque I prefer a 372 to be honest.

No, it won't sap much, Tbf you wouldn't notice unless you were using over 18"

The 21LPX likely is the best choise of all on that saw, provided the wood is reasonably "clean".

Ok so I got the oregon pro lite bar and chain today and let it rip on the little 550xp. Got to say I'm impressed it pulls it well with a good sharpening. However, it is a bit nose heavy. I was a little surprised at the weight of the pro lite bar and expected it to be lighter but no biggy... Seems a well made bar. It is the max I'd go on this saw so glad I got the 18 instead of the 20" all in all my verdict is the 550 is able for the 18" bars for occasional use as is what I need it for...
