This is one of my favourite/most interesting trees in the city. The epicormic had just been removed and has exposed the massive reaction growth to the rear of the main stem.

That's pretty cool the way those brackets have racked themselves up in really neat order.

I'm monitoring the growth of the brackets and the reaction growth - I'm getting slightly concerned at the increased number of smaller brackets (poss. panic fructification?) that have popped up this season. Will keep a close eye on this one...
