a client of mine who i'm doing a laurel hedge for next week:sneaky2: has used something like this on a lawn which was overshadowed by the dreaded leylandii and the lawn is looking absolutely superb, you wouldn't have thought that the lawn was full of moss for over half its width as there is no sign whatsoever of any moss unless you really dig into the lawn with a spring tine rake. I think this will be going in my armoury against moss. I just wish i had know about this last year before i lost a customer although that was mainly due to the fact that they refused to accept they had a moss problem as when i showed them the moss from in the lawn, they said that isn't moss, it's not spongy enough:scared1:. to them moss is the thick spongy stuff you get on a flat roof not the feathery stuff in your lawn and they were paying £180 pa to somebody else to apply feed weed and mosskiller but he wasn't scarifying so there was a two inch layer of thatch in the lawn, no wonder my mower wasn't cutting properly:mad1:.

Further to my starting this thread a while ago, I'm reviving it simply because I'm so bowled over by the product mentioned previously - M.O. Bacter. No I am not an agent for it! Am now seeing the long term effect it has and am seriously impressed, especially since it is an organic product. The total destruction of moss, sward density and lushness of the turf are marvellous!:001_smile: Love it when you find a product that exceeds expectations so comprehensively!

Just wondered if you are still of the same opinion of this product?

I have heard mixed reports, but would consider purchasing if you still recommended it!

Cheers

Of all those reports, I bet the mixed bag of results is completely in accordance with the underlying soil status in the first place; certainly the speed at which the product worked varied from lawn to lawn and pH to pH etc etc. Applying it to a swamp :laugh1:

Soon be that time of year again! OH NO!

Hi Timber,

I presume, from your quoted post, that you still recommend the MO Bacter as a moss remover? Has it worked well when there has been a real moss coverage issue?

I am about to tackle a moss ridden garden so will aerate, drain and re-shade where possible etc but I am specifically looking for an organic product to kill the moss. I'm not sure how much grass is left so whatever I use is predominantly to get rid of the moss. There is also a largish patch next to a shading fence where there is only soil so I need to look at seeding or possibly turfing that bit.

So just wondered if you have any more detail on using the MO Bacter and any tips on when and how best to go for it.

Cheers.

Got any pics - really helps; sometimes if the grass sward is really poor it's just better to start over...

Prob won't be able to upload pics this week.

I may have exaggerated the state of the problem. I wont be ripping up or re-seeding the lot and I can't locate another organic moss killer so I will prob go for the MO and order today if you confirm it continued to work for you (in terms of moss removal) in 2010. I understand the point about ph and moisture dependent.

If I get chance to add some pics, I will do at end of week.
